Here’s a link to an interesting article David found. The gist is that college graduates could take a standardized test to help employers determine who to hire. I think this have several points of connect to what we’ve been reading and discussing:
- it’s the same theme that grades and schools work can’t be trusted; we need an objective measure because we don’t trust what’s happening in the classroom
- it’s potential a way to give credit for MOOCs, which currently now don’t bear credit in the same way as other classes
- it’s a potential way to measure competencies in settings like “life credits,” where students are given university credit for work and life experiences they’ve already had; this is appealing for returning students who want a degree but don’t really want to take courses
